Gums are natural exudations from trees. These exudations are usually made to heal any wounds which may occur. The tree is made to exude these olegum resins by cuts made in the bark. These exudations solidify, picked by hand and graded according to the size of the lumps, the clarity etc. Gums are used to glaze foods and burnt for their aroma.
