Hydrolates are a by-product of the manufacturing process of essential oils. Few hydrolates, namely Rose, Peppermint and Neroli resemble the aroma of the essential oil.

Hydrosols are essential oils dissolved in water. This process usually involves solubilising the essential oil into water and requires the use of a solubiliser.
